International shipping prices are usually based on both weight and parcel dimensions. A lightweight object can still be expensive to send if it requires an unusually large box. Smaller antiques allow us to use strong protective packaging while keeping the final parcel within reasonable dimensions.

Compact items are also easier to protect against movement and impact. Fragile components can be wrapped separately, while empty spaces inside the box can be secured with suitable cushioning materials.

This does not mean that every small antique is simple to ship. Thin glass, porcelain, crystal decorations and delicate mechanisms require additional protection. We assess each object separately before confirming that international delivery is possible.

What About Furniture and Other Large Objects?

Large furniture, mirrors, heavy chandeliers and oversized decorative pieces often require pallet transport or a specialist carrier. Worldwide pallet delivery can be very expensive, especially outside Europe.

We do not automatically exclude large antiques from international shipping, but the transport cost must be checked individually. In some cases, shipping may cost more than the object itself.

How We Protect Small Antiques for a Long Journey

International parcels can pass through several sorting centres before reaching their destination. Proper packing is therefore essential.

Depending on the object, we use protective paper, bubble wrap, foam, cardboard reinforcements and additional filling. Fragile parts are protected separately whenever possible. The packed object must not move freely inside the parcel.

When a lamp can be safely disassembled, selected parts may be packed separately to reduce the risk of damage. Glass shades, crystals and removable decorations require particular attention.

Our aim is not merely to make the parcel look neat. The packaging must protect the antique during handling, stacking and transport over a long distance.

Customs, Import Taxes and Local Regulations

Orders shipped outside the European Union may be subject to customs procedures, import taxes or local handling charges. These costs depend on the destination country and are normally determined by local authorities or the carrier.

Before ordering, customers outside the European Union should check the import rules that apply in their country. Some destinations may also have restrictions concerning particular materials, very old objects or products containing natural components.

If customs documentation is required, the parcel must contain an accurate description of the item and its value. We do not mark commercial purchases as gifts or provide false information on customs documents.

Patina and Signs of Age Are Part of the Object
